This class is intended for those who have some experience with woodturning but would like help with turning a bowl and/or with sharpening tools. AWA will provide wood blanks. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tools, but AWA can provide whatever is needed.
Note: This class is part of the Alabama Woodturners Association Class Series. Dues-paying AWA members can attend this at no cost, however registration is required. Please enter the AWA code at registration and contact classes@redmountainmakers.org with any issues. This class is open to the public. Participants are expected to have some prior experience with turning at a lathe. All are invited to attend the AWA meeting at 9:00 AM on the day of the class at Hardware Park.(https://alabamawoodturners.com/meetings/) Are Minors allowed? Yes, if accompanied by parent
What to wear: You must dress safely and appropriately. Arrive for class in long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long sleeves should be avoided if possible and rolled up if necessary. Long hair must be tied back and dangly necklaces, earrings or other accessories shall be removed before starting the class. Additional protective gear will be provided as needed. Masks may be required depending on circumstances.
