Description: This hands-on workshop combines two popular woodturned items, a box and a top, into one project.
Participants should attend the morning meeting to see the project demonstrated (see https://alabamawoodturners.com/meetings/). Familiarity with basic woodturning techniques is assumed. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring their own tools, and AWA will provide anything else needed.
About the Instructor: Michael Anderson will be visiting from Chattanooga where he is active in the Tri-State Woodturners club and leadership in national woodturning forums. He has been a featured artist in American Woodturner magazine and recently received Best of Show at the Tennessee Craft Best of Tennessee Biennial Exhibition.
Note: This class is part of the monthly Alabama Woodturners Association Class Series. Dues paying AWA members can attend this class free of charge, however registration is required. Please enter the AWA code at registration and contact classes@redmountainmakers.org with any issues. This class is open to the public. Participants should attend the morning meeting to see the demonstration and learn the techniques. Are Minors allowed? Yes, if accompanied by parent
What to wear: You must dress safely and appropriately. Arrive for class in long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long sleeves should be avoided if possible and rolled up if necessary. Long hair must be tied back and dangly necklaces, earrings or other accessories shall be removed before starting the class. Additional protective gear will be provided as needed. Masks may be required depending on circumstances.
